Cosmic Credits – Loyalty Programme Terms & Conditions

1. Programme Overview
Cosmic Credits is The Big Bang Shop's official loyalty programme designed to reward customers for shopping with us in-store and online. Members earn points on qualifying purchases, which can be redeemed for store credit subject to these Terms & Conditions. Participation in this programme constitutes full and unconditional acceptance of these Terms & Conditions.
2. Eligibility & Membership
2.1. Membership is free and open to all customers aged 18 years or older.
2.2. Customers must have a registered customer account with The Big Bang Shop to earn and redeem Cosmic Credits. Points earned without a linked account at the time of purchase will not be retroactively credited under any circumstances.
2.3. Only one loyalty account is permitted per customer. Duplicate accounts will be merged or terminated at The Big Bang Shop's discretion, with points consolidated or forfeited accordingly.
2.4. Membership is strictly personal and may not be transferred, sold, gifted, or shared under any circumstances.
2.5. The Big Bang Shop reserves the right to refuse or revoke membership at its sole discretion.
3. Earning Cosmic Credits
3.1. Members earn points on qualifying purchases made in-store or online when a registered account is linked to the transaction at the time of checkout. Points will not be added retroactively if an account was not linked at the time of purchase.
3.2. Points are calculated based on the final transaction value after all discounts, promotions, and refunds have been applied.
3.3. Points are not earned on the following:
- Gift cards or vouchers of any kind
- Event entry fees (unless explicitly and individually stated in writing)
- Shipping fees, handling fees, and/or taxes
- High-end collectables including but not limited to Graded Slabs, Special Figurines, and Limited Edition items
- Any items on sale, clearance, or subject to in-store-only discounts
- Items ordered in on special request
- Any items excluded at The Big Bang Shop's sole discretion, which may change from time to time without prior notice
3.4. Bonus point promotions may be offered from time to time and are subject to separate and additional terms communicated at the time of the promotion. Bonus points are not guaranteed and may be withdrawn at any time.
3.5. The Big Bang Shop reserves the right to exclude any product category or individual product from earning eligibility at any time without prior notice.
4. Points Value & Conversion
4.1. Points have no monetary value and cannot under any circumstances be exchanged for cash, transferred, or paid out.
4.2. Points are converted into store credit at a rate determined solely by The Big Bang Shop and may be adjusted, increased, or decreased at any time without prior notice.
4.3. Store credit must be redeemed in fixed increments as made available within the loyalty programme at the time of redemption.
4.4. The Big Bang Shop does not guarantee any fixed points-to-credit conversion rate and accepts no liability for changes to the conversion structure.
5. Expiry of Cosmic Credits
5.1. Cosmic Credits (points) expire every six (6) months from the date they were earned. Points that have not been redeemed within this period will be automatically forfeited with no entitlement to reinstatement or compensation.
5.2. Any purchase activity within the six (6) month period does not reset or extend the expiry of previously earned points. Each batch of points retains its original expiry date from the date of earning.
5.3. It is the sole responsibility of the member to monitor their points balance and expiry dates via their registered customer account. The Big Bang Shop accepts no responsibility for expired points.
5.4. The Big Bang Shop will endeavour to notify members of upcoming points expiry where reasonably practicable, however failure to receive such notification does not entitle a member to reinstatement of expired points.
5.5. Expired points cannot be reinstated, transferred, or compensated for under any circumstances.
6. Redeeming Store Credit
6.1. Redeemed store credit may be applied toward qualifying purchases made in-store or online.
6.2. Store credit cannot be used to purchase gift cards, vouchers, or any excluded product categories, nor can it be exchanged for cash under any circumstances.
6.3. Store credit must be applied at the time of purchase. It cannot be retroactively applied to completed transactions.
6.4. Store credit may not be combined with certain promotions, sale items, discounts, or special offers unless expressly and individually stated in writing.
6.5. Redeemed store credit is valid for a period of six (6) months from the date of redemption. Store credit that is not utilised within this period will expire and be forfeited with no entitlement to reinstatement.
6.6. Store credit has no cash value and cannot be transferred, gifted, or sold.
7. Returns, Refunds & Adjustments
7.1. If a qualifying purchase is returned or refunded in full, any points earned from that transaction will be reversed from the member's account immediately.
7.2. In the event of a partial refund, points will be adjusted proportionally to reflect the revised transaction value.
7.3. If store credit was used on a transaction that is subsequently refunded, the store credit may be reissued at The Big Bang Shop's sole discretion and subject to programme rules. Cash refunds will not be issued in lieu of store credit under any circumstances.
7.4. The Big Bang Shop reserves the right to correct, adjust, or reverse points balances at any time in the event of system errors, miscalculations, or fraudulent activity.
8. Account Responsibility & Misuse
8.1. Members are solely responsible for ensuring their account information is accurate, current, and up to date. The Big Bang Shop accepts no responsibility for points lost due to incorrect account information.
8.2. Members are responsible for the security of their account credentials. The Big Bang Shop accepts no liability for unauthorised access resulting from a member's failure to protect their login details.
8.3. Any suspected misuse, abuse, manipulation, or fraudulent activity — including but not limited to account sharing, artificially inflating points balances, or exploiting system errors — may result in any or all of the following at The Big Bang Shop's sole discretion:
- Immediate suspension or permanent termination of membership
- Forfeiture of all accumulated points and store credit without compensation
- Recovery of any store credit improperly obtained
- Permanent exclusion from future participation in the programme
- Referral to relevant legal authorities where applicable
8.4. The Big Bang Shop's decision in all matters relating to misuse and account integrity shall be final and binding.
9. Programme Changes & Termination
9.1. The Big Bang Shop reserves the right to modify, suspend, or permanently terminate the Cosmic Credits programme at any time and at its sole discretion.
9.2. Changes may include but are not limited to earning rates, redemption values, expiry periods, eligible products, or any other aspect of the programme.
9.3. Reasonable notice will be provided where practically possible via the website, customer account portal, or social media channels. It is the member's responsibility to remain informed of programme changes.
9.4. In the event of programme termination, members will be given a reasonable opportunity to redeem available store credit, unless otherwise required by law or prohibited by the circumstances of termination.
9.5. The Big Bang Shop accepts no liability for any loss arising from programme changes or termination.
10. Privacy & Data Protection
10.1. Participation in Cosmic Credits is subject to The Big Bang Shop's Privacy Policy, which forms part of these Terms & Conditions by reference.
10.2. Personal information collected in connection with this programme will be processed in accordance with applicable South African data protection legislation, including the Protection of Personal Information Act (POPIA) No. 4 of 2013.
10.3. Members consent to The Big Bang Shop processing their personal information for the purposes of administering the programme, including communicating about points balances, expiry, and promotions.
11. General
11.1. Participation in the Cosmic Credits programme constitutes full acceptance of these Terms & Conditions as amended from time to time.
11.2. These Terms & Conditions are governed by and construed in accordance with the laws of the Republic of South Africa.
11.3. Any disputes arising from participation in the programme shall be subject to the jurisdiction of the South African courts.
11.4. The Big Bang Shop reserves the right to interpret and apply these Terms & Conditions at its sole and absolute discretion. Its decision on any matter relating to the programme shall be final and binding.
11.5. If any provision of these Terms & Conditions is found to be invalid or unenforceable, the remaining provisions shall continue in full force and effect.
11.6. These Terms & Conditions supersede all previous versions of the Cosmic Credits programme terms.
