Warhammer Paint: Base

Citadel Base Paint is the essential first step to achieving vibrant, professional-quality finishes on your miniatures. Designed by Games Workshop for the Warhammer hobbyist—and equally beloved by modelers of all stripes—this rich acrylic paint lays down a smooth, solid foundation that ensures all subsequent layers adhere cleanly and stand out boldly.

Formulated for maximum coverage, Citadel Base Paints are densely pigmented and quick-drying. This makes them ideal for blocking in key areas of color on your models—from power armor panels and elegant cloaks to intricate details like leather pouches or metallic trim. Whether you’re working on Warhammer 40,000 squads, Age of Sigmar armies, or any other scale models, these paints apply evenly over a primed surface without leaving unsightly brushstrokes.

Each pot contains a high-quality blend that offers reliable opacity in just one or two coats, saving you time and letting you focus on the fun and creativity of the painting process. Citadel Base Paints are water-based, making them easy to thin for subtler color transitions or to clean up with minimal fuss. Their non-toxic formula also makes them suitable for painters of all skill levels, from newcomers building their first squads to veterans perfecting their signature armies.

Whether you’re aiming for a bright, heroic look or a grim, battle-worn scheme, Citadel Base Paint provides the perfect starting point for your color journey. Pair it with Citadel’s extensive range of Layer, Shade, and Technical paints for a truly striking finish that brings your miniatures to life on the tabletop.
